Miami is on the hunt for its official anthem

Miami is one of the most musically influential cities in the world. From Latin pop and hip-hop to jazz and electronic music, its sound has traveled globally. Yet unlike cities such as New York or San Francisco, Miami does not have a formally adopted anthem.

A new cultural initiative is inviting musicians around the world to help create what organizers hope could become Miami’s first widely recognized anthem. Elevate Miami and Guitars Over Guns have launched “Elevated Tracks 305,” a global songwriting competition in collaboration with the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

The folks at Elevate Miami, Guitars Over Guns and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami are aiming to do something about that with a brand new contest called Elevated Tracks 305.

Elevate Miami and Guitars Over Guns, in partnership with the Frost School of Music, launch “Elevated Tracks 305,” a global call for original anthems that capture Miami’s rhythm, culture, and resilience.

The Frost School of Music is collaborating with nonprofits Elevate Miami and Guitars Over Guns to launch Elevated Tracks 305, a global contest to create a new musical anthem for Miami and build community and civic pride.

From Latin pop and hip hop to electronic music and jazz, the sounds of the 305 have traveled far beyond South Florida. Yet despite its enormous cultural influence, Miami has never formally adopted an official city anthem.
